Rally For Aaron To Live Life Again!
Hello to my family, friends and all who read this story! My name is Heather and I am asking for your support for my brother, Aaron Wedemeyer (FB). He has had a tough couple of years with circumstances that have been beyond his control. As a result, he has lost pretty much everything, except, thank the Lord, his life. Aaron's needs are urgent and cannot sustain the loss of time or loss of anything any longer. Let me explain ...
It started in 2014 with several fainting spells. The first was into a display rack while shopping with his daughter, another where a fellow technician jumped over and grabbed his arm before he hit the ground, and the third fall caused facial bone damage, as well as knocking out one of his front teeth. Although the process for an implant was started, he could not afford to have his tooth placed and has been wearing a removable denture since then.
Immediately following these fainting spells, Aaron and his business were targeted by a hacker through his Online Accounts and Cell Phone. He didn’t discover the identity theft for 2 months and by this time unknown disruption and financial loss had been in process. He then began having seizures losing space, time and coherent speech, which was witnessed by my brothers and his daughter, Due to these seizures and injuries Aaron was unable to pay all the bills.
Aaron’s heart is his daughter, Micaela. He was so happy when she began her adult life living with him. They worked together to find her a job in her field of interest and she was chosen among a few to become a paid Intern with a special needs organization. She has been there now for 2½ years and, though extremely proud, it was always Aaron’s plan to support her during the start of her adult life so the inability to provide for her fully led to the point of receiving an Eviction Notice. Someone close stepped in to catch them up, however, it’s another financial burden that he needs to make right. Expenses were always higher than the income Aaron could generate and soon after his vehicle was taken by the bank.
After the repossession and several months of borrowing cars he was able to barter for a small truck. In a little over a month Aaron was helping a friend install a Dog Door. When the job was completed he went to leave and found that his truck was gone. In the cab and under the bed cover were his 20 year collection of Specialty Tools used in Hail Damage and Dent Repair (his business). Though the truck was found by Police in an alley across town all the tools were stolen. This happened on Friday, November 13th, 2015 and the financial loss was between $7,000-$8,000 (this is equivalent to a doctor without his medical instruments for surgery).
Just 8 days later, on Saturday evening, Aaron was driving from Denver to his home in Colorado Springs and he remembers getting gas south of Denver and getting back on the freeway, but remembers nothing more until his tires hit the warning grids of the Median. Startled, what he saw was concrete pillars of an overpass. Turning hard to get back on the Freeway the rear tires finally bit before impacting the end of a line of concrete barriers. To avoid collision with another vehicle, he overcorrected the truck slamming into one of the barriers. Witnesses to the accident stated to the Highway Patrol in the Police Report that the truck went airborne upon impact and when landing went into several rolls eventually sliding to a stop 225 feet from impact. Estimated speed was within the posted speed limit. Miraculously, Aaron lived through this, but his left arm (sports arm) was severely damaged.
Aaron required 3-hour surgery to repair his arm. In just 2 weeks’ time the follow up X-Ray showed the plate had bent and screws were broken and detached. After another 4-hour surgery to replace the hardware, he awoke to find a splint on his left wrist. The Doctor came in and removed the splint and his wrist immediately dropped forward. This is called Radial Nerve Palsy (paralysis and tremors). Aaron was told it could take 9-10 months for the nerve to awaken, but it has now been 9 months without significant change. He wears an Orthotic to keep his wrist and fingers extended during the day and at night the splint. Aaron needs to pay out of pocket for physical therapy, first to aide in waking up the Radial Nerve and then for his shoulder, hoping to regain range of motion. He says the skin on top of his hand and up his forearm feel like a sunburn 24/7.
2016 has brought more health and money problems: Anemia, severe weight loss, and 3 additional surgeries – the final one to remove his gall bladder just short of 3 weeks ago. Micaela is in her own apartment after Aaron had to move & downsize. After 9 months of nausea and illness, Aaron is finally feeling better, but is left with no money, no car, no tools and no income due to these unbearable circumstances. His needs are urgent and he cannot afford any more loss of time or loss of any kind. There has been a record amount of Hail Damage this year that Aaron believes he can still get for others and light jobs for himself, but needs a reliable vehicle with no dents or paint issues, to replace the stolen tools and get his company website back online.
We are so thankful that Aaron has survived all these hardships and we just want him to get back to living life! I have the personal experience of knowing that he is the first one to help and give to others, even doing so during this extremely difficult time in his life. If you are able to help Aaron with a donation, we would appreciate it more than we can express and if you feel comfortable please “Like” this page and "Share" it with others. We ask for your continued prayers and well wishes, which is most important to us.
I am asking for any help to get my brother back on his feet again. We do not like giving this plea, but we are out of other options and your kind gifts will go towards a work vehicle, replacement tools, medical bills, doctor bills, physical therapy, and living expenses. Aaron has not been able to come out to Brea for Christmas since 2013 and being able to rejoin the tradition this year will have strong healing power. Our parents have been his greatest comfort and support, but the last time they and Aaron were able to see each other was 6 months before his rollover accident. Aaron is very friendly and loved by many and he needs to be with people socially and in business, proactive towards his own healing and self-supporting. We feel that meeting our set goal will give him a vital leap forward in his recovery process. Thank you so much and may God Bless You and Yours.
Lastly, my brothers, Aaron and Darin, are Identical Twins and throughout their entire lives they’ve played catch during great times and even rough times. All of us will know everything is okay when they can throw a Baseball back and forth again.
