Reece Doyle-WAKO European Kickboxing Championships

My grandson Reece Doyle who is 13years old from Arklow, Co.Wicklow (current WKC World Kickboxing Light Contact Champion -40kg and WKC Points Fighting Silver Medalist -40kg 2022) has qualified in all 3 disciplines at the National Junior Kickboxing Championships in May to represent Team Ireland in Istanbul Turkey, from 25th August to 3rd September 2023 at the WAKO European Championships in Older Cadet Boys -42kg, Light Contact, Kick Light and Points Fighting.

Although Kickboxing is now a recognised sport within Ireland and now part of the European Olympic Games for 2023 in Poland it is currently not government funded in anyway. All costs associated to represent Ireland at this championships lies solely with the athlete and their families.

This is an experience and opportunity Reece has been training for since he started his Kickboxing journey at 4years of age. Reece currently travels to Tallaght from Arklow 4 days per week to train and prepare for the Championships with Tallaght Martial Arts.

The cost for Reece to compete will be approximately €2500 without the additional cost of an accompanying guardian as he is under 18years of age which is approximately the same cost again.
