Stolen estate from mother with dementia, legal fees.

We are fighting a legal battle to get our mother (who has dementia) her money back from the newfoundland courts. After her brother attempted to steal it and got his crooked lawyer friend to have it held ransom by the courts.

Mom was diagnosed with dementia a few years before a settlement involving my dads death was to finalize. My siblings and I discovered that her "family" was trying to get her to sign the settlement over to them when she was mentally incapable of understanding what she was doing. (And they knew it)

Her brother told her to send things directly to him, not the lawyers, because the lawyer had no idea what he was doing at this time.

We stated multiple times to stop, an reiterated her deteriorating mental state...

but the two refused and simply got more aggressive with their demands. The repeatedly told mom that her kids were taking her money and to give them access as quick as possible.

We cut contact from him so he couldn't keep pulling his scam. But he then had her sister and her neighbour help regain his access to her to continue the abuse of her mental state.

They had her call the cops on us repeatedly over false claims of theft, and her brother actually called the OPP from NFLD and told them mom’s money was being stolen and failed to mention her dementia and hallucinations, they went to the bank and verified that mom's money was NOT being stolen and then informed him that her money was fine. BUT, this did not stop him and his cronies from telling her that it was being stolen.

They messed with moms mental state so badly that home care put her into a care facility on November 1, 2023. Because she was not eating, she was 75Lbs, she was hallucinating, and she was at a very aggressive and unhealthy.

Once she was moved to the facility, we were told by the care facility to fully cut her contact with the people abusing her, for her own mental health.

Unfortunately those people worked with the crooked St. John's lawyer, (who was legally supposed to cut ties with her sibling when they were shown proof he was committing fraud, but instead he did the opposite and cut out my sister/moms power of attorney) from her ability to care for mom.

This crooked lawyer then wrote a whiny pathetic letter to the judge crying about us because I went to the Law Society about him and calling out his corruption, and he abused his power to punish us. (Since mom was his client, this is horrible legal malpractice.)

The court in NFLD is now holding her money and essentially bankrupting our mother and forcing our family to fight another lengthy and costly legally battle to get mom her own money.

This has taken almost two years so far and $35,000…

But, Mom has been doing very well mentally and physically in the care facility. She has gone from 75lbs to 140lbs, her dementia is under control and she has been the best version of Darlene we have seen in almost 30 years. But her pension is not sufficient to pay for her care and the increasing legal bills. So we desperately need to get her money for her so she can continue to be cared for.

We are asking for your help. The legal system is a massive failure.

(We have gotten $1200 from gofundme so far… and it has been deposited into moms account and will be sent to the lawyers)
