Building Retca School in Frankadua, Ghana

► OFFICIAL FUNDRAISING MERCHANDISE HERE → Retca School Store ◄
Hello!
I am Greta and in Nov-Dec 2019 I volunteered in a 5 weeks teaching program at Retca school in Frankadua, Ghana.
This fundraising is to support the school headmaster Simon. His dream is to rebuild the school, in order to offer the kids a better learning environment.
This project will also address the bad bathroom situation shown in the pictures below, with the construction of flushable toilets.
► RETCA SCHOOL NOW
The classrooms are separated only by these thin wooden sheets:
Due to the growing number of kids attending Retca (currently 204 kids), and the small classrooms separated by wooden sheets, the noise level is constantly high, which makes the learning experience extremely hard:
The overcrowded nursery (50 babies):
The bathroom
The kids squat on these wooden planks to poop, until the large hole in the ground underneath is filled. When filled, a new hole will be excavated somewhere else and the bathroom will be moved.
This area smells bad and is infested by flies.
This is where the kids pee, an area with some rocks on the ground:
► THE WORK IN PROGRESS
► THE ESTIMATE FOR LABOR AND MATERIALS
► THE STORE
Don't forget to check out the beautiful merchandise of this fundraising campaign!
Simply click on this link → Retca School Store
The collections are inspired by the traditional Kente cloth and by the ancient Ghanaian wisdom of the Adinkra symbols.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated! If there's any surplus, it will be used towards school supplies. No donation is too small.
Thank you ❤
