Rettet den himmelbeet Gemeinschaftsgarten!

Wir sind das himmelbeet Kollektiv, ein sozial-ökologischer Gemeinschaftsgarten in Berlin Wedding.

 

Seit 2013 haben wir den Gemeinschaftsgarten himmelbeet am Leopoldplatz in Berlin-Wedding aufgebaut. In den letzten neun Jahren ist dort ein lebendiger Ort der Umweltbildung und sozialer Freiraum für die Nachbarschaft gewachsen. Nach 5 Jahren Existenzkampf mussten wir Ende 2021 dem Bau eines Fußball-Projekts weichen. Durch unsere jahrelange politische Arbeit konnten wir eine Ersatzfläche an der Gartenstraße sichern. Doch jetzt droht dem himmelbeet trotzdem das Aus.

 

Obwohl wir letztes Jahr eine Umzugs-Finanzierung durch den Berliner Senat erhalten haben, konnten wir nicht alle Umzugskosten davon bezahlen. Die Senatsgelder decken nur Sachkosten und auch nur in 2021.

Der Umzug musste sehr kurzfristig erfolgen. Daher konnte Vieles nicht mehr vor Ende des Jahres passieren. Jetzt bleiben uns Kosten, die wir alleine nicht stemmen können. Aktuell benötigen wir z.B. dringend Anschlüsse für Wasser und Strom. Ohne diese können wir den Garten und unser Café nicht öffnen. Da die Gartensaison bereits im April startet, drängt die Zeit.

 

Für uns als gemeinnützige Organisation sind 40.000 € eine riesige Summe. Ohne Garten und Café droht uns zusätzlich ein Verlust von wesentlichen Einnahmen, die wir für den Fortbestand des Projekts benötigen. Deshalb bitten wir jetzt Euch um Unterstützung, damit wir das himmelbeet wieder aufbauen und so am Leben halten können!

 

Der alte Gemeinschaftsgarten und das Gartencafé waren ein Begegnungsort, ein grüner Ruheort mitten in der Stadt, ein Spielort für Familien, ein Veranstaltungsort für lokale Bands und ein inklusiver Lernort mit Workshops und diversen Möglichkeiten zur Teilhabe.

So einen Ort möchten wir gemeinsam mit euch wieder schaffen! Ein Ort, an dem urbaner Klimaschutz gelebt wird und für möglichst viele Menschen zugänglich ist.

 

Hier ist eine Übersicht unserer dringendsten Bedarfe:

 

Anschluss für Wasser und Strom: 19.000 €

Einkommensverluste aufgrund der temporären Café-Schließung: 10.000 €

Weitere Kosten für den Gartenaufbau (Reparatur, Leihgeräte, Straßensicherung): 3.000 €

Laufende Personal- und Betriebskosten: 8.000 €

Support the himmelbeet community garden!

 

We are the himmelbeet collective, a socially and ecologically conscious community garden in Berlin Wedding.

 

In 2013 we started to build the himmelbeet community garden at Leopoldplatz in Berlin-Wedding. During the last 9 years it grew into a lively place of environmental education and an open social space for the neighborhood. After 5 years of negotiations, we had to leave the site in 2021 due to the construction of a football-project. Through our years of political work, we were able to secure a new location at Gartenstraße. But the existence of himmelbeet is still threatened.

 

Although we received relocation funding from the Berlin Senate last year, we were unable to use it to pay for all of our moving expenses. The Senate funds only cover material costs and only payments made in 2021. Because we had to carry out the move at very short notice, many things could not happen before the end of the year. Now we are left with costs that we cannot cover on our own. Currently, we urgently need water and electricity connections for example. Without these, we can’t open the garden and our café. Since the gardening season already starts in April, we are pressed for time.

 

For us as a non-profit organization, 40.000 € is a huge sum. Without the garden and café, we are facing additional losses of essential income, money we need to ensure the survival of the project in the long term. That is why we are now asking you for support, so that we can rebuild the himmelbeet and keep it alive!

 

The old community garden and garden café were a meeting spot, a green resting place in the middle of the city, a playground for families, a venue for local bands and an inclusive learning space with workshops and different opportunities for participation.

We would like to create a place like this again. Where urban climate action is alive and accessible to as many people as possible.

 

Here is a breakdown of our most pressing needs:

 

Connections for water and electricity: 19,000 €.

Loss of income due to temporary café closure: 10.000€.

Additional costs for garden construction (repair, rental equipment, road safety): 3.000€.

Ongoing personnel and operating costs: 8.000 €.
