Ricardo the Guide Dog

Donation protected
Happy Birthday Ricardo! My husband's guide dog will be five years old on Friday, October 14th.  Let's celebrate! He has been helping Michael out for three and a half years.  He was also a gift from Guide Dogs for the Blind. And what a gift he has been!

(This photo is of Michael Yu with his new guide dog Ricardo standing in front of the Palce of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Walking around this beautiful architecture  was part of their training.)

Now we would like to give back by raising money so that some other blind person will be able to have a guide dog. Did you know that only 4 or 5 dogs out of 10 make it all the way to being a guide. Of course the other 9 dogs still have all the same costs for vets, food and training. That's why it takes about $40,000 to raise one guide dog and the costs don't stop when there are given to a visually impaired person. Guide Dogs for the Blind still pays for vet bills etc.

So from now until December 31st we hope you will give Ricardo's gift to the Guide Dogs for the Blind. They are building a new Puppy Center. Please watch this short video http://www.guidedogs.com/puppycenter

Our goal this year is to give $1888 after service fees to this important organization that provides independence and confidence for the blind through these wonderful dogs.

Ricardo has given so much to my husband Michael and to all those he encounters. We would be delighted and grateful if you would donate any amount you can. Please check if your employer offers matching funds. It's Tax Deductible. Thanks!

So much more than just a dog, Ricardo is a guide dog. He works hard everyday to help my husband get around what he can not see. He is a comfort to Michael during these tough times. Thank you for contributing what ever you can.

You can also help by emailing this to friends and family and sharing it through social media.
