Official Obituary of Richard Elmer Scott
November 30th 1962 - June 13th 2024
Age 61
Richard (Rick) Elmer Scott of Calgary Alberta, passed away the morning of June 13th 2024 in Calgary Alberta, at the age of 61 years.
Rick was born in Kitchener, Ontario at KW Hospital on November 30th 1962.
He was predeceased by his mother Shirley Gilmour, father Elwood (Scotty) Scott, sister Cindy and sister Angie.
Rick is survived by his 5 children, Krystal, Sunni, Jazzmon, Scotty & Mitchel that he shared with Sherri, his sister Jo-Ann & his brother Bill and his sister in law Angie.
He was a beloved uncle to Natasha, Charlee, Joseph, Holly & Dylan and a loving grandfather to Shae, Blaise, River, Wren & Scotlyn (Scotty).
Rick spent much of his working years as a long haul truck driver. His passions involved music, playing guitar and singing, hockey, squash and yoga.
He loved meeting new people and would soon become friends with everyone, anywhere he went.
He taught us to love the simple things in life: a great song lyric or chorus, a Calgary chinook, or a nice hockey play.
We would often get texts of inspirational lyrics from his favorite songs by one of his favorite bands.
He wanted us to live each day fully and to be in the moment with family and friends.
A private family gathering will be had in memory, to celebrate his life.
The Scott family has chosen a picnic table in Calgary's Stanley Park to be dedicated to Rick via the Parks Foundation Picnic Table Dedication Program. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Richard Scott’s table via this Go Fund Me link:
