Richmond Hills Initiative Legal Defense
Donation protected
The Friends Of The Richmond Hills is proud to say that the Richmond Hills Initiative, which protects 430 acres of open space to the south of El Sobrante, was adopted unanimously by the Richmond City Council in 2017 and has since met several legal challenges successfully.
However, a third round of legal action has been initiated by the developers recently. We need to raise funds to pay legal fees so we can continue to defend this treasure from speculative interests.
For more than forty years, speculators have attempted to develop this beautiful, but notoriously unstable, area. Each time, the community has banded together to defeat these ill-considered attempts. Instead of continuing to fight these proposals one by one, a group of residents got together in 2015 and formed the Friends Of The Richmond Hills in order to look for a more permanent solution. This led to the creation of the Richmond Hills Initiative, which protects 430 acres from large-scale development.
