Sooners Helping Rickey Dixon
Donation protected
Rickey Dixon was a defensive player for the 1985 Oklahoma Sooners football team. In 1987 he was an All-American and Oklahoma's first recipient of the Jim Thorpe award.
Ricky has been stricken with ALS, most commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, for which there is no cure at this time. ALS is characterized by stiff muscles, muscle twitching, and gradually worsening weakness due to muscle wasting. This results in difficulty speaking, swallowing, and eventually breathing.
Sooners Helping Sooners is raising money for Rickey and his family as they work through a difficult time. In addition to donations, please visit Icons of OKC on Facebook for updates on events which will benefit Rickey.
