About Rob Winter:
Rob Winter is kind, caring, honest, and quite possibly one of the best people I've ever met. To this day I have never met another individual as inspiring and passionate as him.
I first met Rob at Regis University. I was just beginning the first of many IT Security related courses. Within the first 15 minutes of class I knew we were going to get along great because of the corny jokes he was cracking. Of course his sense of humor was not the only quality that drew myself, and many other classmates, to him, but you could see the passion and ambition that Rob had for IT Security as well as teaching. Rob truly cared for each one of his students, he wanted nothing more than to see all of us succeed, and any assistance he could provide to make that a reality he was willing to give.
By the time that course was over I (and everyone else in the class) looked for any other courses taught by Rob because not only did we learn more from him than any other professor, he taught in a manner that was intriguing, challenging, and fun.
After completing my degree I knew my relationship with Rob would continue. He is the kind of guy that no matter what he had going on, he always has time to respond to an email, even if it's just to bounce an idea off him. He is one of those people that you know your life is better off with him in it. Though I knew we would stay in touch post college I had no idea our relationship would develop further. I was more than honored when Rob reached out to me about a position on his team in San Francisco. Of course I jumped at the wonderful career opportunity, but also the chance to work for Rob. During that time Rob continued teaching and mentoring me not only about business and security but life in general. I can easily say my life is significantly better because of Rob!
Rob has three children, Ethan, Tre, and Andi, and a loving wife Erin. When Rob isn't with his family he's either on his bike (he's an avid cyclist – the crazy guy would race cars up the hills in San Francisco and win!) or he's further developing his knowledge about computer security. Rob is also extremely interested in living a healthy lifestyle, he is always sharing the information he's gathered about healthy living.
Reason for gofundme:
It brings me great sadness to share with you the reason for this GoFund. Rob has been diagnosed with cancer. While Rob has insurance, he has a $5,000 deductible, per year. I would like for us to raise $10,000 for this year and next year's deductible (the expected duration of his cancer treatment). This would help to lessen the financial burden and allow Rob to focus on much more important matters, such as, being with his family and focusing on getting better. Rob’s outlook on his recent diagnosis is nothing short of inspiring. He is in great spirits, extremely positive, and ready to take this head on. As his dear friends, we only want to give back and help in any way we can, as Rob has always done for us.
