In loving Memory of Robert Sobol 1994 -2018

In memory of Robert.

We are trying to raise funds for full scholarships to the Pearson School of Culinary Arts, Professional Cooking, which is located in Lasalle, for students who are struggling to achieve their passion as Robert had.
This school is where Robert received his diploma of vocational studies.

On January 1st, 2018, while driving to Nova Scotia, a vehicle driving in the opposite direction crossed into his lane causing a fatal accident. Through no fault of your own, tragedy struck and we lost our dear son on New Year’s Day. It is too early to be taken from this earth at 23 years old and your whole life ahead of you.

Robert loved everyone no matter their age, religious belief, or race. Trust me when I say that every person that ever worked with Robert in the kitchen, he loved you all. He would brag to me about his friends he met at all the different companies he worked for. He loved all the people at his elementary school, high school, college.

I want to thank every person that came into my son’s life even if it was for a fraction of a second or more. I can honestly say to all of you that he loved you with all his heart .

There is a reason why Robert turned to his passion of cooking, one summer Teresa Nash, my good friend, hired him as a helper in her garden, and as we know gardening can be a very hard and grueling job. He dug trenches in the hot summer days in her yard and came home with blisters and said "Mom, I have to go back to school because I do not want to do this for the rest of my life". So I owe a big thank you to Teresa Nash for making my son work hard that summer and change his career.

I also owe a thank you to all the people that hired Robert as a line cook, sous chef, or cook, as that was his passion in life. I don’t know all your names but anyone that worked with him in the kitchen, I am so grateful to you all for taking the time to get to know my son. I wish to also thank all his friends from school. No matter if you were in his life for a fraction of a second, or for days, weeks, or years, you helped mold my son into the person he became.

The world has lost an intelligent, kind, and caring individual who also had empathy, sympathy, trust, a heart of gold, and was a great listener. He donated his hair twice to the Canadian Cancer Society. I believe that Robert did not have a bad bone in his body and was an extremely positive person and will be missed by everyone.

He will be missed by

Vladimir Sobol (grandfather)
Michael Sobol (father)
Virginia Kane (mother)
Victoria Sobol (sister)
Julie Audley (sister) and her family.
Boris Sobol and his family
And the love of his life Luana Aubert.  xx

Jennifer Kane (auntie) and family, Mark Kane (uncle) and his family, all the cousins. Madeleine and Andre.
And to all of his many friends.

Your loving mother, father, sisters and grandfather will love you forever and miss you dearly.

You were a gift on loan for a short time.

Always Majestic

Written by Robert on his facebook page New Years Day @ 11:35 a.m.

"I’ve never had actual New Year’s resolution so I think I’ll try it this time.

The past year I pushed myself harder than I’ve ever done before just to prove that I can do it.

Hundred hour work weeks were so easy and kept my mind and body constantly moving.

I love the profession I'm in and the people I surround myself with, so time flies when I'm with them all and in my zone.

But this year I'm going to try to love myself more than my career.

 I think it's about time."

I Am Free

Don’t grieve for me, I am free

I’m following the path a higher power has laid you see

I took a hand when I heard a call

I turned my back and left it all

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work, or play

Tasks left undone must stay that way

I found that peace at the close of the day

If my parting has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joys

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss

Oh yes, these things I will definitely miss

Be not burdened with times of sorrow

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow

My life’s been full, I savored much

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief

Lift up your hearts and peace to thee

A higher power wanted me

And now I have been set free
