Dr. Robert Ssengonzi July 10, 1970 - August 14, 2018
Dr. Robert Ssengonzi, 48, of Cary, formerly of Uganda, passed away, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at WakeMed Cary Hospital.
Dr. Ssengonzi was born July 10, 1970 in Rakai, Uganda. He was a seasoned health professional with more than 20 years of experience in research, program management, technical assistance, and leadership of complex HIV programs and interventions. Dr. Ssengonzi loved people at heart and he always looked for ways to advance the lives of others. He set his mind on making possible what many others around him saw as impossible.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annette Kakumba, his grandmother, Yayeri Naku Ssenkindu and his grandfather, Shem Ssenkindu.
Dr. Ssengonzi is survived by his wife of 21 years in marriage, Joy Ssengonzi; daughters, Rebecca and Rachel, sons, Jethro and Jesse.
A memorial service will be held 3pm Saturday, at Cary Church of God, 107 Quade Drive, Cary, NC 27513. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and at the family home in Cary.
