Providing truth, freedom, and safety to those in need.

In February of this year, a young man named Aaron Bushnell committed suicide in a very public way, a way meant to draw attention to the plight of people who were being hurt and who were unable to protect themselves.
Aaron was born and raised in the Community of Jesus, a high-control and abusive religious compound located in Orleans, Massachusetts. Two other young men have also committed suicide after escaping the cult, one before Aaron and the other just two months after Aaron’s death. The demands of having to learn how to navigate normal life and the challenge of dealing with the aftermath of abuse and control were just too much.
Today, over 200 people remain in this group, and many wish to escape. Because of the way of life forced upon these members, most have no job, no income, no education and no friends or support systems outside of the compound. Leaving becomes an almost impossible task.
In response, a group of former members have come together to create an underground railroad of sorts, a means of escape and a safe place to escape to. The desire of the group is to provide not only a safe house for recently freed members, but to provide for the other needs these individuals will have. These range from the immediate need for food, clothing and toiletries, to longer -term supports such as long-term housing, transportation, education and job training, employment, therapy, financial counseling, and much more.
While the group has secured a house and has some local members who can transport those escaping to the safe house, there are still great necessities that we request your assistance in obtaining.
Financial gifts will be used to purchase those items that will be immediately needed so that each person has their basic needs met. In-kind donations of transportation, clothing, counseling, employment and financial planning are all desperately needed as well.
Please join us in our quest to save the lives of those wishing to leave the Community of Jesus. If a financial contribution isn’t possible for you at this time, we would appreciate you sharing this with those you know as we seek to join together to make a difference.
