Support Ron’s Race!
The legend that is Ron Corn Linnet is taking part in the fantastic “Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup 2025” on 27th April 2025.
We are collecting in support of a cause close to our hearts in Runcorn, a fantastic service that provides vital care and support for people affected by cancer.
This cause is particularly close to our hearts, as we know both a dedicated staff member who works there and a valued volunteer of ours, who has received treatment from the centre. Their experiences have shown us just how important the cause is, not just for patients, but for their families too.
Any donation, big or small, will help us raise money to purchase a piece of equipment that will mean so much to the dedicated staff and the patients in Halton.
Your support means everything, and we truly appreciate any contribution you can make.
A message from the team:
Who are we?
The community specialist palliative care team who care for patients in the Halton area who have a palliative diagnosis or life limiting illness who have complex symptoms that require management. The team is made up of 5 clinical nurse specialists, a specialty doctor and palliative care consultant and a heath care assistant.
The piece of equipment is a handheld ultrasound device that will enable us to diagnose ascitic fluid in a patients abdomen which can often be a symptom with certain advanced cancers, its leads to increased pain, abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting and leg swelling. All of which are very distressing for a patient.
Having this piece of equipment within the community will enhance the support the team are able to provide patients, ensure rapid diagnosis and lead to faster referrals into other units for treatment. It will reduce hospital admissions for scans and help to improve the quality of life for our patients living with a palliative diagnosis.
