Ron's Memorial Fund for Jon and their child, LJ

Donation protected
I first met Ron about a decade ago. He was a big strong bear of a man with a Harley Davidson truck and the love of my best friend, Jon.

He had such an amazing effect on Jon, who had suffered from terrible depression since childhood. Ron pulled Jon up and held him high. Together, they built a life together that was the envy of all those around around them (or maybe that was just me).  They had just recently adopted a child... a miracle in Jon's mind, elevating him to a status of fatherhood that he had believed was ever beyond him.

Ron Gillies had brought so much into his life. Young Jon Mittlesdorf would never have recognized the older Jon Mittlesdorf and for that alone I would have given everything I have to give to Ron.

Ron inspired everyone. His children. Strangers. I have never heard an unkind thing about Ron and if I was a lesser person, I would have been jealous.

But Ron, was only mortal. His scarred hands, marred further by inept surgical operations, was a testement to that. He suffered from diabetes and he was careful about that. But his heart was so big, so strong so giving, that no one ever thought that it might fail.

Yet, on Sunday night, Jan 28th, that is exactly what happened and  we are devastated by the loss.

Neither Ron nor Jon had significant funds set aside for emergencies. There was no life insurance, although there was an appointed this week to sign the papers.

It's an all too common situation these days, but we are looking to fund the funeral and any incidental  issues so that Jon and their son can contrate on healing from this awful loss.

Please help me help my friends.

If you need encouragement and you're a fan of my written work, I'll send you a few copy of a recent, unpublished story of mine as a thank you. Just drop me a line at Greyflank *at* Gmail *dot* com and I'll reply with the story.

If can not donate at this time, please repost and share this humble plea. Thank you.
