My name is Roxanne and I've created this fundraiser to help my family support my dear dad, Bob Andrighetti, as he deals with a rare, progressive motor-neuron disease that has suddenly taken away his ability to function day-to-day.

This aggressive illness has left him needing the constant 24hr care of my mother and I, leaving us in the unexpected situation of incurring significant expenses as we do our best to care for his growing medical needs.

A friend suggested I setup a GoFundMe page to help offset some of the expenses needed to help us manage this very sudden, life-changing situation.

Just 8 months ago he was perfectly healthy and active, going on 3km walks with my mom every day, helping with many community-building service projects for the needy, and even performing with me (see our "Father Daughter Duo" performance of 'The Prayer' from March of this year : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOgBIRLrf_k&list=RDzOgBIRLrf_k&index=2 )

He has now become basically home-bound and relies almost entirely on my mother and I for constant care, because this mysterious illness has caused his muscles to deteriorate to the point where he has lost nearly 30lbs, has difficulty breathing and extreme weakness/limited control of his arms and legs.

The doctors are still at a loss as to what could have caused this, but they believe it to be a rare motor-neuron disease (in the same family as ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Progressive Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Parkinson's) They are still conducting tests to figure out exactly what it is, but with no conclusive diagnosis so far.

As of yet, there is no treatment and we simply have to deal with outcome of the disease as best as we can, and make the proper adjustments to our home and life.

Some of the expenses that this fundraiser would help us with would be:

Two Stair lift installations and one for the garage (10-12k)
a class 5 motorized wheelchair (3-6k)
a powered/adjustable resting chair (1-3k)
modifications to the car (possibly a different car?) (10-20k?)
an adjustable bed (2-6k)
BiPap replacement masks for his breathing (the mask costs 365$ and apparently needs to be replaced every 2-3 months)
Medical appointments/treatments that may not be covered
Misc items like supplements and high calorie/high protein foods to help him regain his strength/muscle

It has been heartbreaking to see my dad struggle with this incredibly debilitating disease and dealing with so many painful medical procedures, but I have faith that with the support of family and friends, and with all the loving prayers sent our way, we will get through this together.

Your support in helping us manage his medical journey would make a world of a difference for us. It would help us give my dad the proper care he needs and alleviate some of the unexpected financial stresses that this situation has caused.
