RUBI RUIZ CARE FUND

Rubi Ruiz is a Pilsen resident, student, hard working, beloved, honest, caring, and wonderful individual. She is loved and needed by her friends, family, and community. On February 2 around 10:30am, Rubi was walking to school with a friend. They were violently attacked by a man in broad daylight, completely unprovoked. Rubi's friend was able to get away and call for help, while Rubi was assaulted, mugged, and traumatized. The assault left her with missing teeth, a battered face, and no phone. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Rubi and her friend were met with detectives and gave specific details on the attack, reliving the traumatizing event, in hopes of getting help. Rubi's friends and family did their own work and found her belongings at Franciscan Outreach. Franciscan Outreach is a homeless shelter that is kept alive by volunteers and donations. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help make all Pilsen and West Side Community members to be aware of their surroundings, to help keep eachother safe, and of course, to help Rubi. Since the attack, Rubi has not been able to work or go to school. She has a mountain of medical debt, and trauma to work through. Your donations are going to change Rubi’s life by helping with medical bills. Your donations will allow her to push through this traumatizing event and return to school and get back on her feet. Our most vulnerable community members deserve a safe way to school and work and home without worrying about their safety. We deserve to be heard and protected by our community. We need more community centers that offer access to food, housing, medical care, and work opportunities. Let our Alderman know that we will not stand for this violence any longer.
