Indoor Garden for Ryerson ELC
Donation protected
I am a mother of a preschooler in the Ryerson Early Learning Centre and I would like to raise the funds for the children to have a garden in their classroom all year round.
Let's give our Children the gift of health and well being for Christmas. The goal is to raise the funds for a Tower Garden by December 25th!
The money raised will go towards a full Tower Garden kit (includes everything needed to grow a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers), a tomato cage, grow lights and wheels / trolly for easy moving.
Here are just a few of the benefits of having gardens in schools:
Nutrition Awareness
Environmental Awareness
Learning Achievements
Life Skills
Health and Wellness
Community Building and Social Connections
I would like my son and his classmates to have the opportunity to grow their own food, develop positive attitudes towards healthy eating and an interest in environmental issues.
Please help the Ryerson Daycare reach this goal!
"The physical and social qualities of garden participation awaken the senses and stimulate a range of responses that influence interpersonal processes (learning, affirming, expressive experiences) and social relationships that are supportive of positive health-related behaviors and overall health."
"In a project that involved integrating nutrition and gardening among children in grades one through four, the outcomes have gone well beyond an understanding of good nutrition and the origin of fresh food, to include enhancing the quality and meaningfulness of learning."
