"Spiritual Care Unit" for Archdpdx
I was browsing facebook one day, and saw a story about the Diocese of Lafayette "Spiritual Care Unit"- a converted ambulance with a confessional inside. Knowing that our own dear State of Oregon Knights of Columbus Chaplain, Fr Theo Lange, has been named a Missionary of Mercy for the Year of Mercy- I figure he needs a ride to drive that fits his mission.
So here's the plan. I'm going to put this up as a Gofundme. If we hit the goal, I'll go up on craigslist, find a suitable vehicle under $7000. We will spend another $1000 building a confessional in the back. We will spend another $250 on books and devotional items for a mobile library to go along with the confessional. And the final $250 will be an inital donation towards fuel.
If we do not hit our goal within 14 days, all funds will donated to Fr. Theo to support his Mission of Mercy to bring confession to all those who need it. I would like to inform him personally of the existence of this campaign- and how it went- at the exemplification ceremonies in Sherwood, OR on February 20th.
My brother Knights and Supporters of Knights- if every Knight or family that has been touched by the Knights of Columbus and the Sacrament of Confession in Oregon gave just $1, this campaign would be over quite quickly. (Edited: I just gave myself and found the minimum donation at GoFundMe is $5- so prayerfully consider what you can give to this campaign).
Imagine seeing a van like this, parked outside your church in your home town. Or visiting a public park.
Lent is coming. This is an excellent Lenten Service Project for the Knights to do in this Jubilee of Mercy. I believe it can be completed by Divine Mercy Sunday.
