Help support low income individuals with chronic pain and trauma to receive structural bodywork sessions!
My name is Ray (xe/xir pronouns) and I am a licensed massage therapist and structural bodyworker. I am committed to offering bodywork to low income individuals with chronic pain and trauma, and I especially work with rural, GLBTQ+ folks.
This scholarship fund will go directly toward subsidizing low-income individuals with chronic pain and trauma to receive structural bodywork sessions.
I am a disabled, working-class, transgender person who lives with chronic pain and PTSD. I have experienced the profound impact structural bodywork - Anatomy Trains Structural Integration in particular - has had on my physical and psychological quality of life. (Structural Integration is a form of bodywork in the lineage of Ida Rolf that provides individualized, progressive bodywork sessions that work systematically along different lines of fascial structure.) My lived experience makes me passionately committed to offering the opportunity to experience this type of bodywork to others who otherwise would not be able to access care.
Details of fund use: The standard market rate for structural bodywork sessions is $120 or more. By working out of my home, I can offer sessions for a sliding scale that goes down to less than half the price of market rate: $50 per session for 1.5 hours of individualized care. However, $50 per session is prohibitively high for many people. This scholarship fund will enable me to offer 200 sessions at $25 each, and 40 fully-subsidized sessions.
