WHO WE ARE
The Erin Regan Animal Sanctuary and Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2019. We are based in Picayune, MS and have a 40-acre facility that is currently home to 80 farm and companion animals. We have adopted out more than 150 dogs and cats since we began, and continue to network with shelters, fosters, animal control officers, and veterinarians to help place and care for the abandoned, old, unwanted, and broken. Through our social posts and farm visitors, we gently educate and encourage kind living and vegan diets by showing off the amazing personalities of our farm animal residents.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
My husband, Jeff, moved to Oregon in April, leaving me here in Mississippi to take care of 40 acres, a home, run my online business (Run Motivators), run a non-profit organization, and take care of more than 80 rescue animals. Alone.
I am trying to do the jobs of 10 or more people. I can't keep up with my business plus the farm. I can't make enough money to pay for everything and am in danger of losing it all, but animal care is my top priority. For the animals' sake, I have to resort to this fundraiser in hopes that we can find a miracle to help us all keep our home and keep our rescue going in an area where it is SO NEEDED. Dogs and cats are being euthanized every day in Mississippi shelters. I want to ensure we can continue to survive and thrive so we can save more lives!
Our rescue is located in an area where it is extremely difficult to find volunteers and help for the animals. I have 2 amazing people that help every Sunday, and another who comes sporadically, but organizations of this size need TEAMS of people. And there is no money in the budget to hire.
Our farm is currently home to:
- 11 chickens
- 9 ducks
- 1 giant hog named Hamlette
- 7 pot belly pigs (one of them is 17 years old!)
- 3 mules (one is in her 30s)
- 1 Tiny Horse
- 12 feral cats
- 4 goats
- 4 cows
- 10 donkeys (one of the minis is in his 30s)
- 3 feral dogs that I am working on taming - we currently have a trainer working with them a few times per week
- dogs awaiting adoption - this number varies depending on rescue intake and dogs leaving for forever homes
- and 6 dogs, a chatty parrot, and 2 parakeets that are "forever residents"
We also have several dogs in foster.
OUR GOAL
Our goal through this fundraiser is to pay down the mortgage so that we can continue to provide a safe and loving home for all the animals indefinitely! We will continue to network with all of the shelters and other rescues here in the south to get more pets moved up north and into amazing homes, saving SO many more lives.
