About our project:
In 2019, our students in St Joseph's Secondary School in Rush collected €14,000 worth of food to support the local division of the St Vincent de Paul. The students put together 365 fantastic hampers which were delivered to local families that needed a helping hand coming up to Christmas. That was 365 hampers for 365 families in our community.
This year the school community is hugely disappointed because they cannot do their usual fund raising activity as a result of Covid-19...at a time when many families need this help more than ever before. We're unable to bag-pack or assemble the hampers.
HOWEVER our students are not ones for shying away from taking on a challenge and they've really pulled it out of the bag this year with an online fund raising event that we would love you to support.
Every Monday starting on 23rd November 2020, for the next three weeks, our students will be holding a virtual busking session, that a dedicated group of 4th, 5th and 6th Year students have worked on...each from their homes! Check out our third performance here: https://youtu.be/Qa8AdryWCXk
Our appeal will run for 3 weeks from Monday 23rd November to Sunday 13th December. With the money raised, we will be purchasing vouchers in local shops in Rush County Dublin. These vouchers will be presented to the St Maurs Conference of the St Vincent de Paul for distribution to local families in the community.
As a guide, vouchers will equate to €50, should anyone wish to donate the cost of a full voucher, and help make Christmas that bit easier for one family. However, all donations, no matter the value, are most appreciated. We know it's not easy for everyone to donate this year, but if you can, every cent is most appreciated.
Please support our students, families in the community and local businesses. Every cent raised will go towards helping a local family this Christmas. This year is going to be a difficult year for many families. Let's make it a little less difficult!
Our students, families in need and local businesses would all appreciate your support.
On behalf of all of the staff and students involved, we thank you in advance for your support, we hope you enjoy our performances and please share them using the hashtag #STJsings4SVP
Note: We also welcome contributions from businesses so if your business can support us for one or more vouchers we'd love to hear from you.
Note: this fundraiser is being organised by staff and students in St Joseph's Secondary School where Ms Patricia Hayden is the Principal. It is being organised in aid of the St Maurs Conference of the St Vincent de Paul.
