Help Merci Get Gender Affirming Care & New Housing

UPDATE 6/14/21:
It has been over a year since my original campaign was created. I still have yet to get the funds to move and sustain myself, let alone get anymore gender affirmation surgeries. I am leaning (trying my best to) on community in this moment. It is imperative that I am able to move and begin taking care of my mental health. Healing and peace is the mission.
UPDATE 1/20/21:
Since starting my original campaign back in March 2020, I have been able to get one surgery, keep up on my hormones and sustain myself as an independent artist. Currently, I am looking for housing. It is imperative that I am able to sustain myself while in this period of transition. Money will be looking very different in the coming days/weeks as I begin handling the logistics moving forward. Thank you for all the contributions thus far! Words cannot express my deep appreciation, humility and gratitude. Xo.

UPDATE 10/14/20:
Same girl, New fundraiser, Same goal.
“When I started medically transitioning, I told myself that I’d never ask for anything during this process; I wanted to have total control in physically shaping into the woman I felt like on the inside. Unfortunately, reality brings me to the exact place I said I wouldn’t be.
For the past three years, I have had the privilege of being covered by insurance as a student at my four-year college. As a recent graduate, this coverage has ended. Thus, I am left with the costs of procedures that are essential to me living a healthy, mentally-stable life. For some time, my focus has been on surviving, but now, I want to do more than survive. I want to live and thrive to see the fruits of my labor, and the labor of my loved ones.
With no insurance coverage, I must pay for monthly hormone replacement therapy, doctor visits and major procedures needed to affirm my gender. It is imperative, as a Black transgender woman, that I have the resources needed to navigate various career spaces and life more broadly.
I appreciate any and all contributions from folks who are able to give. I also appreciate moral support, contacts/resources, and sharing the campaign.”
