Saginaw HS Project Graduation

In 1981, the state of Maine promoted a traffic safety community prevention event as a solution to their teen problem of underage drinking and driving.  They lost 18 young people during two graduating seasons due to alcohol related crashes and wanted ro do a countermeasure programto prevent future teen fatalities.  They discovered that research showed the highest number of teen fatalities occured between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.,  during the weekend and especially during Prom and Graduation seasons. The term "Project Graduation" was used to describe their alcohol/drug free all-night celebration after commencement.  The term is now used nationwide, with Project Graduation events held in all fifty states.  These celebrations have proven to be effective, positive alternatives for graduates on commencement night, the biggest celebration in their High School years.  Project Graduation events put a "cap" on the euphoria the graduates feel at commencement and steers all their energy and excitement towards a party with friends in a safe, secure and supervised environment. Telling the students to "Just say No", isn't enough. An Alternative , positive choice must be given to them to help support their wise decision to party substance free. 

The Parents of Saginaw High School Class of 2015 Project Graduation are sponsoring such a night on June 7th, 2015 following their graduation ceremony.  The goal of Project Graduation is to raise $20,000 to purchase food, entertainements and lots of prizes for our 402 graduating Saginaw HighSchool Seniors.  We are a 501(c)3 organization and all contributions are tax deductible.
