Salt and Pepper Studios: Phase 3
Donation protected
My name is Regina Holliday.
I am a speaker, an artist, and a community organizer.
I started crowd funding for Salt and Pepper Studios in 2016. I thank you for all the support you have offered over the years. We have hosted Cub Scout meetings, the Cinderblocks medical conference, art classes and gallery shows. Several rooms within the building are dedicated to the memory of community members and medical advocates who have already finished their earthly mission. In 2024, we are hoping to do more art workshops and events that have been hindered in recent years by Covid. I paint to help people. I call it a co-mission, because I am on a mission and I hope you will join me.
I started my work by painting large murals in Washington, DC inspired by the hospitalization of my late husband Fred Holliday. Next I started painting at medical conferences. I would attend as a keynote speaker and then stay all day and paint the words of the other speakers and give the conference organizers my painting as a gift.
Then I began painting the patient story on the backs of business suit jackets; this art movement is called The Walking Gallery. There are now over over 515 jackets being worn in 17 countries and we continue to grow. I have painted 444 jackets and the remaining jackets were painted by the 48 other artists in the gallery movement.
I do not charge for the painting I do for The Walking Gallery. It is a mission and a labor of love, but paint costs money and so does shipping. Each jacket usually takes 8 hours to complete. If you would like to offer a donation for this worthy endeavor it would be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to join the Walking Gallery please read this post: http://reginaholliday.blogspot.com/2016/03/how-do-you-join-walking-gallery.html
I also usually host an annual patient-led medical conference called Cinderblocks in rural western Maryland. It was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid, but returned in 2022 and 2023.
If you can help by donating here that would be very appreciated. If you would rather donate stamps for shipping, or acrylic paint for jackets, or gas cards for my work in the community, please ship them to my attention at 189 Main Street, Grantsville, MD 21536.
