UPDATE
On October 27,2024 Sarah passed away after a long 4 year battle.

Sarah left a note to her husband David on August 26,2024 the day before she was to have major surgery to reconnect her stomach so that she would be able to eat again normally.

The note said that if I do not survive this surgery and die I want to be laid to rest in Israel, where she was born and her family still live.
David and her family are honoring Sarah’s last request.
As this is a costly expense not only do we have to arrange for the body to get flown to Israel, air tickets as well as the funeral costs. Total cost $30,000.

The $35k raised already has helped David cover Sarah’s medical costs and for his accommodation at The Family House in Pittsburgh where David has been staying.

Another $30k is the additional amount to cover the funeral costs for Sarah.

Please open your hearts to help with any donation to offset the cost.

Thank you for your generosity.

In January of this year Sarah Magnes was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. In March Sarah embarked on 3 rounds of chemo and on June 26th she had an esophagectomy, which resulted in a major complication called a tracheoesophageal fistula.
After a second failed surgery to repair the complication-and after more than a month in hospital -    Sarah was airlifted to UPMC PRESBYTERIAN in Pittsburgh on September 30th for life saving emergency surgery by a wonderful charitable organizationthat helps cancer-stricken patients find the best doctors in the world to help with their particular surgery. Sarah’s ongoing complications warranted this vital intervention.
On October 20th Sarah went into Kidney failure and is now on dialysis and being treated with Lasix.  Currently, Sarah remains in the ICU on a ventilator
at UPMC Presbyterian and has been for more than 2 months, recovering from 5 major surgeries. She
will require another surgery in 9-12 months.

Sarah’s husband David has been by her side daily and is staying in Pittsburgh to be close to her. Her
recovery will be a long one but we are all praying for her return to good health.
Given their unprecedented situation and having to relocate indefinitely ,neither of them is able to work, which is causing serious financial implications . They have medical bills and living expenses in Atlanta & Pittsburgh to take care of.
We are asking for your help ! Please open your heart and give what you can to help Sarah and David.
