Hi there! We are Elizabeth and Sarah Jean, owner & manager of Pretty in Patina in the Old Market of Omaha,Ne. We’d like to tell you about our visual stylist, coworker and friend Sarah Beth.
After a few short months, Sarah Beth quickly became more than just a coworker. She is truly a happy presence in our lives. Her energy really does change a room, and we are so grateful to have her as a part of our team. We know our store wouldn’t be what it is today without her.
Sarah Beth, (SB as we like to call her), has gentle, warm demeanor that is coupled with her love of life, animals and her family & friends.
Sarah Beth was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in January 2015. On February 26, she was in surgery for 6 hours to remove her thyroid and approximately 26 lymph nodes. After recovery, SB couldn’t wait to get back to work and back to life. With doctor’s permission, she was able to attend Omaha Fashion Week with us in March.
Her courage and resiliency are astounding, and because she’s so important to us we want to help her with her out of pocket expenses. Having no thyroid is expensive. SB’s had to change her diet to accommodate the radioactive iodine treatment on April 10th, and she will be in quarantine for approximately 7 days.
It’s times like these that friends, family and loved ones can feel helpless. We just aren’t qualified to do much other than be concerned and stay as connected as possible. Starting the GoFundMe for Sarah Beth is one way we can help Sarah Beth through this process. We’d like to be able to remove some of the burden of the medical expenses she has currently and will continue to incur for the rest of her life. Her week long hospital stay totalled an astonishing $80k. She is unsure what her radioactive iodine treatment fees will be as of yet. Among other prescription medicines Sarah will be on a thyroid hormone replacement medicine for life. Sarah has insurance coverage but not all of her current and long term expenses will be covered.
As humble and courageous as Sarah Beth is she reluctantly has allowed us to create this page on her behalf. Admittedly she knows she needs the help are we are willing to ask for it. We felt there might be others that would like to be able to help her in a monetary way small or large. If you feel like sharing your love with her this is another way to do that. A giant thank you from Elizabeth, Sarah Jean, and of course Sarah Beth.
