Celebrating 10 Years of the Saturday Free School
Donation protected
Founded in 2012, the Saturday Free School for Philosophy and Black Liberation, based out of the historic Church of the Advocate in North Philadelphia, has dedicated itself to a political, moral, spiritual, and ideological education that can equip the people with the consciousness for unity and struggle. At the end of September, we will have a 2-week-long celebration of our 10-year anniversary, entitled "KNOWLEDGE AND RECAPTURING THE REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT FOR OUR TIME.” We will have panels, documentary screenings, cultural performances, and a photo exhibition. At a time when the world and our nation are in historic crises, when pessimism and escapism are pervasive, members of the Saturday Free School and religious and community leaders present to the people, particularly the youth and children, the great revolutionary traditions of the modern world and say to them that “There Is a Sky, There Is a Future.”
Help us bring this celebration of a future worth fighting for as envisioned by W.E.B. Du Bois, Martin Luther King Jr., and James Baldwin by donating to our event. All contributions will go towards venue costs, cultural performers, event pamphlets, and meals and refreshments for attendees.
You may also donate via Venmo (@Emily-Dong-4) and Cashapp ($emdo96).
You can stay updated on the event on our event website and follow the Livestream on the Saturday Free School Facebook page.
