In 2013, after returning from a 2 month voyage at sea, internationally renowned yachtsman, Ivan Macfadyen brought attention to the devastating condition of the world’s oceans and sea life. Still coming to terms with the shock and horror of the voyage, "The ocean is broken," he said, shaking his head in stunned disbelief.
"I've done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I'm used to seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time, for 3000 nautical miles, there was nothing alive to be seen."
The time is now, now, now to take action to heal Earth's waters. There are over 400 enormous Dead Zones in the oceans around the world. A Dead Zone is a huge area in the ocean that is so polluted no life can exist. Many of these Dead Zones are around the coastline of the U.S. and one of the biggest in the world is in the Gulf of Mexico.
It’s time to take immediate action to restore the health of Planet Earth.
