We work very closely with Road Dogs & Rescue and here is another case that we just cannot turn our backs on. Meet Fletcher.
Fletcher was being sold on Craigslist, described as having a 'small bit of mange' on his front paws and a dog, who 'likes to lay around'. Nikki Carvey from Road Dogs, and a rescuer with a soft spot for bulldogs with mange, wanted to get him before he fell into the hands of someone who would just use him as a backyard breeding dog. She was shocked when I saw his paws. So swollen, he couldn't walk. No wonder he was laying around, on concrete, in 90 degree heat! Now he's on a soft bed in A/C getting the attention and love he deserves.
The sad thing about this is so many people get bulldogs because they're cute but have no idea how to take care of them. Most bulldogs that come into rescue from shelters or owners have neglected medical issues - from mange to allergies, entropion to tumors. Nikki loves to rescue them, fix them up and find them fantastic forever homes. However, quality care does not come cheap - at least not in Los Angeles!
PawPackers, this is where we need you. We have an incredible community and together we can help save Fletcher.
