SAVE THE PLUNKETT HOUSE!
My name is Hannah Plunkett and with the help from my beloved & kind hearted neighbors, I have created this GoFundMe account in an attempt to help my mother, Catherine Plunkett, save her home from foreclosure. Here is our story:
For almost 24 years, my mother has worked hard as a single parent to raise my brother and me and keep us under the roof we have called home for the entirety of our lives. Recently, we were notified that we are losing our home to foreclosure.
When my father walked out in 2001, my mother was left to raise two children (ages 4 and 6) and to maintain our home while working full-time and completing both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. For a while, our father was helping with child support and insurance payments but it has always been a struggle to for my mother to keep our heads above water.
In April of 2011, my father died suddenly due to self inflicted injuries. After his death, she lost all health insurance and child support payments, as well as our college fund that my father was managing. For almost 6 years, my mother has been doing the impossible and making ends meet without child support payments, insurance payments, and putting two children through college.
In June of 2016, my mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer and since then has undergone two surgeries along with other cancer treatments. Inundated with medical and other bills, she finally lost the house to foreclosure. Our family home of twenty four years is scheduled for auction on February 20 of this year. In a race against time, our family is desperately trying to save the only home we have ever known. I have recently graduated from college, and am now living at home, working two jobs and teaching private music lessons in an attempt to help my mother as much as possible.
My mother has always been a fighter, she is the rock of our family and the reason we are so strong together. She inspires people everyday with her unique teaching style and artistic abilities, which she has instilled in so many that have passed through District 47. She has made a notable differences in the lives of many students. She does not deserve to lose her home, especially when she is trying to heal.
Any money we raise will go directly to PNC Mortgage Company in an effort to bring our account up to date and keep our home. Anything left over will go towards helping my mother pay off her medical bills. At this point, ANYTHING will help, even if it is just $1.
I want to thank our family, Bernotas Staff and our caring neighbors for their unconditional love and support throughout this extremely difficult time in our lives. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts, we love you all dearly.
