Save the Albuquerque Historic Rail Yard Machine Shop
Donation protected
The Wheels Museum, a 501c3, is undertaking a project to restore the machine shop at the Albuquerque Rail Yard in order to expand the rare and historic exhibits and to bring in locomotives to be on exhibit. The machine shop, which desperately needs to be restored, needs asbestos mitigation, lead pain mitigation, petroleum product mitigation, windows replaced and more. The machine shop is located next to Wheels Museum at the Albuquerque Rail Yard where thousands of men and many women worked to build Albuquerque into a rail transportation hub and a vibrant city.
Donations are requested so the work can begin on this project. Wheels Museum does not charge an admission fee because they want everyone to be able to enjoy the museum. There are donation boxes at the Museum but the amount of money collected in these boxes would not be enough for a restoration project of this size. The Wheels Museums goal is $100 Million to be used to restore the machine shop building in these photos and also repairs to the Wheels Museum. Any donations are greatly appreciated to help complete this project. Thank you very much for your support!
