Donation protected
This GoFundMe page has been created for our daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, friend and believer in miracles, Jacqueline Santiesteban.
She was diagnosed at the young age of fifteen with IgA nephrology at Children's Hospital. IgA nephropathy (nuh-FROP-uh-thee) also known as Berger's disease is a kidney disease that occurs when an antibody called immunoglobulin A (IgA) lodges in your kidneys. This results in local inflammation that, over time, may hamper your kidneys' ability to filter waste, excess water and electrolytes from your blood.
In Jackie's case the disease has caused both of her kidneys to fail resulting in the need of a kidney transplant. She has been on dialysis for over a year which is helping her sustain but has made her quality of life suffer.
There is no cure currently for IgA nephropathy, but the success rate of those that receive transplants are very good.
For more information please read: https://www.kidney.org/atoz/content/iganeph
If you can provide any amount of donation to help with previous, current and future medical bills (including co-pays, medication, dialysis, transplant procedure and post recovery) it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
If you can not give a monetary amount but want to give the gift of life please look into the live donor programs where Jackie is registered.
Please note we are looking for a donor with the blood type: O+.
1. Johns Hopkins: www.hopkinsmedicine.org/transplant
The first step is an online kidney donor questionnaire: https://johnshopkins.trcareportal.com/
2. University of Maryland: http://umm.edu/programs/transplant/services/kidney/living-donor/evaluation
And as always please continue to send prayers and positive thoughts. This in itself is always a blessing to receive.
