Sea Bears Road to Junior Olympics
Donation protected
Hello! We are the Boerne Sea Bears, a water polo team located in the Boerne/ San Antonio, TX area. Our team started as a group of swimmers who, have a passion for a widely unknown sport, the desire to start our own water polo team for boys and girls in our cities, and a coach (Matthew Ross) who shockingly said yes. In our attempt to bring together players from across our school district, we miraculously won the championship for the West Region TISCA Conference in Texas. With this unexpected victory we were offered the chance to compete in the Junior Olympic tournament in San Jose, California.
We started only, as a group of friends with the dream of playing a sport we love, who quickly became the West Region Champions, and now have the once in a lifetime opportunity to advance to Junior Olympics . We come from a city where water polo is extremely underappreciated and we have received the chance to make water polo known.
Only one thing stands between our passion and the Junior Olympic tournament: FUNDING! We have dedicated coaches who give us their time without pay. We rent a pool to practice in for very little money. Our parents drive us around the state to compete, paying our entry fees at each tournament & keep us from going hungry at all our meets. Our parents have already spent what they could to help us become West Region Champions and now it is up to us. However right now we are extremely under funded to leave the state. After traveling expenses, tournament fees, and registrations, the price is lofty; but with the help of all of you, we believe we can raise the money and bring the love we have for water polo to our city.
Here’s a breakdown of expenses for each of our 15 boys, 3 girls, and 2 coaches:
Flight:$325
Hotel:$175
Misc:$200
Total:$700
