Dear friends and family,
This year I am the college advisor/teacher at the UCLA Community School, located in Koreatown, Los Angeles (#thankateacher). One of my eleventh grade students, Jennifer, has been accepted into a summer program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston. "Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science", known as MITES, is an incredible 6 week chance of a lifetime for aspiring engineers to live and learn at MIT.
Jennifer will be the first in her family to go to college and she wants to become the first in her family to become an engineer. Latina engineers are few and far between in the field of engineering, but currently Jennifer is on course to achieve her goals. Attending MITES this summer from June 10 to July 21 will be an incredible opportunity for Jennifer.
However, she needs your help in the next month!! While the MITES program pays for tuition and housing, Jennifer is in need of funding to pay for her travel expenses, a laptop to use during the program, food items, and other personal expenses. I am asking you to consider donating to help Jennifer achieve her dream of learning and living at MIT. All money raised will go directly to Jennifer in order to help her pay for expenses incurred during her MITES program.
Jennifer is an extraordinary student. She will be forever grateful to you for helping her. One day, she may invent something amazing and she won't forgot how she got there. I've already told her not to forgot me, UCLA-CS or all the people who helped her when she becomes successful. Please invest in Jennifer and please help send her to MITES this summer!!
