Why am I trying to raise money?
I have been working from home for quite sometime, my room to be exact. There is absolutely no room to cut most of the pieces, especially gowns. Its absolutely frustrating and I've run out of space with storage as well. Recently I had to start meeting clients at my mothers house due to having no space at my place. When trying on a gown, you would like to get the full effect, right? Not looking at yourself on a door mirror! Most people come with a party of 3 people and as you can see from the video, there is absolutely no room for that.
Therefore I am raising money to fund the down payment on a showroom/Studio space where I will sew/create out of, and meet clients. Living in New York City, in one of the most expensive boroughs it is costly and its the hardest thing to save a bulk of money.
A little information about myself.
My name is Sam (Samantha) Garvey, known as the #ProfessionalSlayer.
I have my own clothing line brand S.Garvey. I've wanted to be a Fashion Designer since I was in the 4th grade. I would sketch all the time imagining bright and bold designs. My biggest influencers were my well dressed family, my paternal grandmother who made my church dresses, and Grace Jones.
My mom purchased my first seqing machine for my 16th birthday, which I did not learn to use until years later.My father paid for basic sewing lessons one summer and after the classes ended, you could not get me off that machine! Working mostly is retail, I would study the clothing, purchase a few cheap items, tear them apart and look how they were sewn. Every technique I've learned over time is all self taught.

For 6 years off and on I've been designing off and on due to my illness, endometriosis. Even working jobs I've had to quit due to being constantly hospitalized or just not being able to function from the amount of pain.
I can tell you one thing; The moment you give up on something you're great, that's ingrained in you, thats the moment you fail.
What is life worth after that?
I REFUSE to fail!

The brand is known for hand work detailing, mixing prints and materials with strategic cutting techniques. In each collection a story is to be told by infusing culture and different time periods.
What will the funds be used for?
-Leasing a studio space
- (2) Industrial sewing machines
- Fabrics to start new collection [Men's, Plus Size & Bridal]
-Size 12 Dressform
Philanthropy:
Life is short and you must go after what takes your mind off of the "everyday" struggles.
A short term dream of mine is to start a foundation for women with Endometriosis and Dysmenorrhea. We know there is "no cure," according to doctors. Starting with myself, I'm finding news ways to not only cope but to lessen and eventually stopping the severe pain, everyday ailments, and depression that comes with this dis-ease.
I would also like to give back to the community by teaching one free sewing class per week, starting with pre-teens. As well as employing within the community to help create jobs.
