Shane Strong! - Medical Travel
Donation protected
My name is Brad Miller and on behalf of my family we are asking for your help and prayers for my Nephew Shane Harrison.
Shane was completing his senior year in the Marine Biology Program at University of Hawaii at Hilo when tragedy struck on 8 October 2016. Shane was a rear seat passenger in a car that lost control and struck a telephone pole. The pole sheared off and collapsed on the rear of the car crushing the roof and seriously injuring the passengers in the back seat. Shane suffered a fractured skull and severe trauma to his face as well as a brain contusion. Thanks to the outstanding first responders, life flight staff and the Queens Medical Center trauma staff Shane's life was saved. Although after spending 12-hours in surgery he is finally out of danger he has a long way to a full recovery.
Shane's father is a 24-year Navy Veteran with good medical coverage so the medical expenses are not a concern. However, the unexpected travel for his mom and dad from Minnesota and cost for long term lodging in Hawaii while Shane recovers can be overwhelming for a family putting two kids through college. We are asking for donations to help with travel and living expenses for the family. We are hoping to get enough to cover the living and travel expenses for at least 30 days. Any additional funds will be used to help fund a medical transport back to Minnesota to get Shane home where his family can take care of him while he recovers.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any donations you can make. My family and I are eternally grateful.
