Shannon Kerr-Polgar's Cancer Battle Last Hope For Survival

My name is Elyse and I have been Shannon's best friend since we were 16 years old. It absolutely breaks my heart to have to write this update, Shannon's battle fighting stage 4 metastatic cancer is sadly far from over.

Shannon was recently given devastating news that her cancer has spread through her leg, groin, lymph nodes, spine, liver and lungs and it continues to grow. Despite her ever-present smile and unwavering optimism, the reality of her battle is incredibly difficult.

Tragically, the treatments available in Canada have not been successful, leaving Shannon with a heartbreaking prognosis of less than a year. Her Canadian medical team has referred her to the United States for a new treatment that is unavailable in Canada. Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) therapy is offering a last hope for survival. This is Shannon's only option but it comes with a hefty price tag. The generous donations previously raised unfortunately do not cover the entirety of the expenses for treatment needed in the USA.

Shannon's treatment will begin in January, and will continue for at least two years and offers the possibility of extending Shannon’s life. Unfortunately, as a Canadian citizen, the cost of this treatment, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars, must be paid out of pocket, with no insurance coverage.

As a devoted mother of four, a loving wife and cherished daughter, Shannon desperately needs your help to reach her fundraising goal to continue accessing this life-saving treatment.
