What is Shereen's Reveal? It's the process of me unfolding and blooming to live my greatest life. This year I've been working to "share my inside with the outside (Cesi Davidson)". It's super scary being so vulnerable, but I've come to learn a few things about vulnerability and this quote from Pema Chodron resonates the most. "Vulnerability is not weakness, it's the most accurate measurement of courage. It is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change". So here I am sharing my inside with you all so that I can create the life I've always imagined and reveal more of the passionate, creative and innovative being that I am.
I've been in Brooklyn for over 4 years now. That time has been split between teaching some of the most amazing kids I know and continuing to perform any chance I get. I've come to realize that I can't fully walk in my purpose by splitting my time in this way. It's a way of sabotaging myself from living my dreams. I refuse to keep living that old story. I'm ready and excited to write (to live) a completely new one!
What's the plan? I've decided that I must move out of my comfort zone and take a leap of faith. I refuse to live small! On May 13, I will be hopping in my car and driving across the country to LA, "where people go to be great!"The goal is to eventually be bicoastal, but who knows? I just need to give myself a chance to see what else is out there. My focus will be on getting new representation and shifting from doing mostly theatre to film and television.
What will funds be used for? Before I go, it is pertinent to my success that I add some essential items to my actor's arsenal. Those include: an acting reel (captures footage of myself that will show casting directors and agents my castability), new headshot/audition wardrobe, postage and mailing for media kits I will be sending to managers, duplication, editing, hair/wigs (yes, more hair )/make-up, actors, director and coaching for the reel shoot. I will also be using funds for travel and living expenses when in LA.
Anyone who knows me knows that I rarely ask for anything. I used to think this was a good thing, something to be proud of. I now realize it's not. It's holding me back from being my best and sending the message to the universe that I'm not worthy of having the life that is meant to be mine.
