Sinus and Tympanostomy Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Cody and I live in Los Angeles, California. I started this GoFundMe for myself to assist with a much needed surgery. I have a few different medical conditions that affect my ears, sinuses, and as a result my balance and perception (your middle & inner ear play a major role in your equilibrium and visual perception). I’ve suffered from these conditions all my life. Recently, I’ve been undergoing treatment for Tympanosclerosis, Eustachian tube dysfunction, chronic Sinusitis, and chronic Tinnitus. In December 2021 I began losing my hearing at a fast rate and I was diagnosed with Tympanosclerosis. This condition was caused by several surgeries on my ears as a child and is unfortunately the worst case scenario of those surgeries. In January of 2022, I had my 5th set of tympanostomy tubes inserted into my ears to address the hearing loss and fluid build up, which is extremely rare for an adult. Everything was fine up until November 2022 when the implants began to fail. In January 2023 I was diagnosed with Eustachian tube dysfunction and as a result pressure and fluid regularly build up in my ears that causes chronic vertigo (dizziness), despite having tympanostomy tubes. As a result, I suffer from chronic Tinnitus and regularly have headaches from the pressure in my ears. This is all exacerbated by my deviated septum which causes chronic Sinusitis. I am in need of a second Septoplasty (I had one when I was 14 but unfortunately it did not fully correct my deviated septum). The Septoplasty will also consist of Turbinate reduction to further address the Sinnusitis. I will be having an additional procedure called a balloon dilation (ablation) on my Eustachian tube to address the Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. This procedure will help with the pressure and fluid build up in my ears that causes vertigo. Additionally, I will be having my tympanostomy tubes replaced which will also help with the pressure and fluid build up. That’s a total of 4 procedures at the same time. In recent months, the dizziness I have felt has had a major impact in my life. If I’m not at work, I’m often in bed because it’s too difficult to do anything else. When I am at work, I don’t feel like the best version of myself. It can be difficult to focus when I’m having a bad day of symptoms. Some days are good and some days are bad but I feel like my life has really been turned upside down. It’s difficult to enjoy life when you’re constantly dizzy or lightheaded. I have great insurance that covers 80% of the surgery but there is a short fall of about $3500. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your help. If you can donate, it would mean the world to me. If you can’t, please feel free to share! Anything helps and thank you so much for taking the time to read! It’s true, you have nothing if you don’t have your health. ❤️
