Siobhan's Road to Recovery
In this season of giving, please remember our dear friend Siobhan Doyle who suffered a catastrophic stroke on September 17, 2016 that has left her in perilous health and with mounting expenses.
Many of you will know Siohban, or Shevvie as she is affectionately known, from various Bay Ridge places she has worked—waitressing at Fitzpatrick’s (before it became Kettleblack), bartending at the Snook Inn, and for the last decade slaking the thirst and keeping happy her devoted customers at the Soccer Tavern.
Three months after that awful September day, Shevvie is still in the hospital, paralyzed on her right side, unable to walk, and able to say only a few words with the help of therapy. If that has not been overwhelming enough, Shevvie also had to endure emergency open-heart surgery shortly after her admittance to Lutheran Hospital.
This fund will also help Siobhan return to Ireland where she will continue to rehab and eventually have a place retrofitted so that she can live as close to normal a life as possible and be nearer to her family, especially her mother and granddaughter.
It is in this giving that we hope Siobhan receives strength and courage to keep this the awful tragedy from overwhelming her during the long road of convalescence ahead.
Please pass this on to those in the community and to friends near and far.
