10,000km run-walk for Skerries Community
Donation protected
With such great funds donated, we are giving to 3 great Local Community causes, all significantly affected by the pandemic.
1) Our Frontline Heroes
2) Prosper Fingal
3) Skerries Age Friendly Group
Many local frontline workers are spending long stressful hours away from their families, with risk of being exposed to COVID-19 and of bringing the virus home - All whilst caring for our family & friends.
We will deliver "Thank You" dinners to them & their families on 3 Saturdays: 2/9/16 May. All meals are restaurant grade, from local chef Conor McGloughlin.
Prosper Fingal play a critical role in our community for those with disabilities & support to their carers. During this COVID-19 response, their nurses, social care workers, therapists & care assistants arrange home support, collect medications, shopping & do house repairs. They maintain contact with 300+ clients to ensure all are safe & well.
We will fund a re-opening event at their care centre, for the benefit of those they so invaluably support.
Skerries Age Friendly Group help our elderly & cocooned locals, in what is a drastically changed world for them.
We will purchase & donate to them Irish-made ACORN Smart Tablets (think IPads, but WAY cheaper..).
Custom designed with the elderly in mind, they enable simple access to all media / Apps: text, video, newspapers & media, but like no other tablet before. These will enable the elderly to communicate with the world, the news & their families.
Our Challenge:
To run/walk 10,000 kilometres before we finish delivering 3 weeks of dinners.
Join the team by downloading STRAVA fitness App, search for the run club: "Skerries Rugby Club".
Our Ask:
1. Donate here, to raise funds for these very worthy community causes.
You can nominate anyone deserving of a small community Thank You - nurses, doctors, nursing home staff, community care workers, emergency services, or anyone who would benefit from a small gift.
