So Lame Records in Downtown Salem!
Donation protected
WE DID IT! Thanks to everyone who donated!
So Lame Records are excited to announce that we are opening a brick-and-mortar store in downtown Salem, Oregon. Our previous downtown record store (Ranch Records) retired about two years ago, and we've been waiting on a decent retail space since their closure. Portlanders (and previous Salemanders) often refer to Salem as "So Lame" since apparently there's nothing to do here - even though they're moving down (and back) in droves. Most of the time, the people with that sentiment haven't even visited.
We recently came into a sublease for the perfect space next to Guitar Castle on High St. Thanks our good friend Erica we will be sharing the space with BANG studios who has graciously offered her storefront to bring downtown an area for the community to connect and explore. We have a soft-opening date for the first week of August and have been working away at schematics and sourcing used inventory from around the Willamette valley (in which we are centrally located). We have also been conducting recognizance of distributors to stock new product to go with our used inventory.
We are asking for donations to help build our shelves, acquire updated systems, and items to run our shop properly,......aaaaaaand to refrain from going to deep out of pocket to bring quality music, culture, and accessibility to the Salem community.
