So Unique Candy Apples started as a fun craft activity I used to spend family fun time with my daughters in 2009. We then began offering them as gifts for family and friends. In 2012, my father became very ill and I had to choose from working a full time job, or taking care of my sick father. Well, let’s just say I decided to put family first. Not knowing where to turn, I started using social medial to sell candy apples to make money for my family. One day I received a call from a news reporter wanting to do a story on the company I use to work for. In his report he misquoted me by saying, I started my business because the company laid me off.  Determined to make my business successful, I decided to open up a small shop in downtown Roanoke VA, where I ran So Unique Apples for a year. Due to the rising cost of having a brick and mortar store, I was forced to bring my business back to my home, so I could continue meeting the demands of my customers while caring for my father and children. My goal is to set an example for my daughters and many other single young women who have dreams to become an entrepreneur. My message to them is, “We Can Be Who Ever We Want To Be.” We are now traveling as vendors throughout the East Coast and Southern states, offering fundraiser for sick children, churches and sports teams.


Denitra Birkes along with 4 year old daughter Aniah ( social media & marketing helper) and Zy'anah 8 year old daugher (flavor creator) are the family team of So Unique Candy Apples. Denitra make and design each candy apple to your unique desiure, also handels all customer service, marketing, networking, and traveling for vendor events.  While working together with my children I want to teach them work skills and how to work together as a team.

We have won awards for giving back to the community and supporting non-profit organizations for children with cancer. We are connected with Icing Smiles and other organizations where we help give back. We believe eating healthy, with a little sweetness added. So Unique Candy Apples will put a smile on your face and love in your heart.

So Unique Candy Apples has been invited to be an exclusive guest at the BET Experience celebrity lounge. The event will be held in LA on June 25- 28th. The fee for us to take part in this event is $7,500. 00 Our goal is to raise enough to take part in this event. We will have one on one's with celebrities and over 15 of the largest media in the US. With this opportunity we will to be able to showcase our business in hopes of gaining a larger consumer audience.
