Farming Land to Benefit the Community

Donation protected
My name is SoulGardener74 and I have a dream of owning the first ever black owned plant nursery in the community where I spent my childhood.  Like other communities throughout America the community I grew up in what is now a Food Desert,  meaning that there is no way for the residents in that community to access  fresh fruits and vegetables without having to leave and go support another community that doesn't give back to it.  I have come to the realization that the urban communities are constantly being used to fund the very people who think that we do not deserve funding in our communities to have success. I have studied the changes within the urban communities in comparison to other communities and noticed a difference in how we spend our money and that money coming back into our communities, and I have discovered that the government no longer feels it is their job to help these communities have the resources that it needs to have healthy meals and environments.  If you drive through any of the urban communities, you will notice the similarities are the same no matter the city or state. There are no grocery stores and any new stores  in these areas have been filled with corporations that are exploiting our community for profit and not putting any of the money back in,  like the pop-up Dollar Stores. The presence of these buildings also adds to the pollution in those communities.

The very street that I grew up on also has a gas plant on the corner which is pumping out pollution into an urban community.  These are the types of things that are causing harm to our communities. I have a plan to add free landscaping throughout the community that will add native trees, plants, and flowers.  My initiative is also providing plant education to the community for free. The property has been zoned for business use, and therefore I plan to open a plant nursery that provides services within my neighborhood. The landscaping of our communities has not advanced with the times. In these neighborhoods  there are still the same types of business that do nothing to bring those in the community closer to nature or a steady food source that is grown without chemicals.  Food pantries do not put funding back into our communities, and we are forced to purchase food from companies that do not put money back into our communities. . I want to be able to grow the food and provide it locally within the community. I am seeking a community effort to raise the funds needed to make this dream a reality. I believe that we have to build our community because our communities are being left behind.

Thank you so much for helping me to build my dreams!
