Speedwell Joe needs help!

Hi my name is Judy and I’m trying to help raise funds for my husband’s step father Joe Simmonds. Many may know Joe from out in the community of speedwell or listening to him call into radio 98.7 in Knoxville.

What many doesn’t know what Joe was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis over 5 years ago. Throughout these last few years the disease has raged over his body. It has impacted his mobility and his ability to drive. Joe now has to walk with a cane most days. He can normally only stand for a small amount of time before he has to sit down. He is struggling to even enjoy the small things in life anymore including caring for his chickens.

Joe has recently started to see a new doctor in Nashville but that requires someone to take him back and forth for his treatments. Joe’s wife Linda works during the week and he spends the majority of his time alone. This is a concern with his debilitating condition along with his mental health.

Also the home they currently reside in is over 100 years old. Mold and humidity are huge factors in the house and are surely impacting Joe’s health.

We would like to move Joe & Linda closer to family where Joe can be surrounded by loved ones and can be cared for. We have found a small home that would work for them if we can raise enough funds to purchase it for them to be placed on family’s property. Please consider donating and thank you !
