Raising Awareness for the CIBS Center and the Walk4Pics
Tax deductible

Hi!l
Thank you for taking the time to check out my fundraiser, so I’ll get to the point. I'm Spencer Freeman and I am critical illness survivor and advocate. In June of 2016, I was in a coma for a month and since then, have spent many more months in the hospital. It has been a long road of recovery, physically and mentally, and I have had a lot of help. And I am still on that road, because the trauma of illness and treatment, is profound. I have benefited from the best of medicine, and also been exposed to some of its harsher sides. Which brings me to this fundraiser and awareness raiser.
On June 1st, I'll be taking part in the Braves 5K, but with a twist. I'll be walking the entire race wearing a 30-pound weight vest. Each pound represents a day I spent fighting in a coma.
This walk isn't just about covering the distance. It's a symbol of the ups and downs of survivorship. Some days, I'm participating in 5K races; others, just getting out bed can be a challenge. However, most days are good and I am very grateful. I have met some of the most amazing survivors who’ve taught me what recovery really means. I'm determined to raise awareness and support for others facing similar challenges.
I'm raising funds for Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Critical Illness and Brain Study Center, both of which provide crucial support to survivors of critical illness like me. Everything I raise goes directly to the above 501(c)3
Join me in celebrating strength and resilience by supporting this fundraiser. Every step I take is a reminder that survivors come in all shapes and sizes, and every contribution makes a difference.
See you at the starting line!
