Spread Random Acts of Kindness

Hello, friends, family, and all strangers,

My name is Shannon Garza, and I'm reaching out to you with what may seem as an odd request. I believed in the power of giving and supporting others, and that there is a reason for everything, good and bad. So, I'm launching this GoFundMe campaign without explaining why I created it, what it's for, or how I'll use the funds. I'm asking you to donate without needing to know why. I am asking you trust your donation will go to a good cause and make a difference.

I have a story about a time I did this:

I saw a guy walking down the street pushing a garbage can full of scrap metal. He had been flagged down by a police car. As I saw him, I felt called to help him. I appreciated he was "working" to make some money. I can tell he's been through a struggle. I contemplated giving him money because I thought what others might think or what if he was going to use it for drugs, but what if he would use if for food, everyone needs to eat right? I realized I was judging but also aware of the odds having had seen this second hand many times, so is that judging I kept asking myself. So, as I passed him up while he was talking to the officer, I made the decision to go find the guy after I went to Walgreens. When I went to look for him, he was no longer being questioned by the police, I found him pushing the wheeled garbage can down an alley with the scrap still in place. I got out of my car and walked over to the stranger and said "Here, you remind me of someone, and I know you could use this" as I handed him $100. He was so surprised and really what happened after didn't matter. I didn't worry about what he was going to do with it, because who am I to decide what he needs and what he doesn't and what he should do with the money I just gave him to spend? I felt it was what I needed to do in that moment and that's what I did and I would do it again. I do not know what he did with that money, I never wanted to know what he did with it, I just wanted to give because I knew he could use it no matter what his situation was, good or bad. And to me, it still doesn't matter to this day. I could only pray it went for good and trust that it did, and that's what I did.

Also I want to assure you, especially for my friends and family, that everything is okay. I'm not sick, I'm not in trouble, and all my family is well but I'm still crazy lol that will never change..I own it, and embrace it.

Also, please know that no one knows why I am doing this, they are hearing about this now right along with you. And I ask please to ask no questions of anyone or of me.

I am sure there will be a variety of reactions from those that support and those that don't, those that know me and those that don't and I'm challenging myself to not think or worry about that because I am also going to hope others trust me and not overthink or worry. I can't over think or worry if I am expecting others to do the same.

So I am hoping someone looks at me like I looked at the guy with the scrap metal and gives help with no strings or judgments. I thank all in advance, no matter what your decision is, for respecting my need to keep to myself.

And if you got this far and are wondering why all the 0s? Well that's because the sky is the limit right? (well not really, $1,000,000,000 is and I already tried a bunch of 9s....nope, didn't work)

Thank you for reading, please share this champaign, and share your stories of kindness. And if you chose to donate, your donation will go to a worthy cause, you have my word.
