Who killed West Point Graduate CPT Phil Esposito?
Donation protected
On June 7, 2005, West Point Graduate Captain Phillip Esposito, 30, Company Commander, Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 42nd Infantry Division, US National Guard, while playing the board game Risk with First Lieutenant Louis Allen, 34, in his office during the day and residence at night in Tikrit, Iraq was killed along with Lieutenant Allen by a Claymore mine that exploded next to Captain Esposito's office. Both officers were married and from New York.
Special Agents with the US Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested Staff Sergeant Alberto B. Martinez, 37, after their investigation discovered that Sergeant Martinez had made numerous threats against Captain Esposito; was seen at the crime scene immediately after the explosion and a witness came forward with information that Sergeant Martinez had confessed to the murder. Sergeant Martinez was charged with two counts of premeditated murder. Sergeant Martinez was married and also from New York.
On December 4, 2008, after a month-long trial by court-martial in Fort Bragg, NC, a military jury acquitted Staff Sergeant Martinez of all charges. Sergeant Martinez received an Honorable Discharge soon after the trial.
On January 22, 2017, Sergeant Martinez died in Florida of unspecified causes.
To date, no person has been charged with the murders of Captain Esposito and Lieutenant Allen.
I was Staff Sergeant Martinez's Defense Investigator. During my investigation, I developed information (leads) that may help bring to justice the person/persons who committed the murders. I want to follow up on these leads. There is no statute of limitation on murder.
This gofundme project is to help finance my investigation. Your donations are appreciated. Thank you,
