I came out as a transfeminine person over a year and a half ago, and my testicles haven't gotten the memo.
Despite beginning my medical transition (daily hormones and testosterone blockers) eight months ago, my body continues to produce huge amounts of testosterone every day.
This causes my hormone levels to fluctuate drastically, and has incalculable effects on my mood, my bone structure, and my potential to fully and completely transition.
Fortunately, I can completely remove my body's ability to produce testosterone with a low-risk and minimally-invasive outpatient procedure. If you really want the hairy details, the medical lingo is 'orchiectomy.'
After this procedure, I will be able to completely stop taking testosterone blockers, which are a considereble monthly expense and make me have to pee like Seabiscuit every two hours.
After this procedure, I will be significantly less reliant on prescription estrogen, which is another considerable monthly expense and, in conjunction with the testosterone my body is currently producing, causes my hormone levels and moods to drastically peak and valley twice a day.
After this procedure, my body will not be susceptible to the masculinizing effects of testosterone. My voice will not continue to lower, my hairline will not continue to receed, and my bones will not continue to thicken.
I really want these gone, y'all. It'll make a huge difference in my day-to-day experience, and it'll make my transition so much smoother and easier.
I'm asking for money because my budget is strapped between rent, living expenses, and saving to move to my full-time job after graduation.
Here's a breakdown of where all the money from this campaign will go:
- $3,000 (Out-of-pocket costs for the surgery)
- $300 (Three night hotel stay in the Holiday Inn right next to the surgery center)
- $100 (gas)
- $100 (food for three days for me and my post-op caretaker)
- $200 (the income I would've made that weekend at my job--gotta keep paying my bills)
- $50 (Post-procedure Vicodin costs)
I would like to have this done shortly after graduation, which would put the surgery date around May 13 (which is a Saturday, for all you superstitious folks).
If you can throw anything my way, anything at all, it would be greatly appreciated. I can offer a handwritten thank you note, my eternal gratitude, and some sweet surgery pics if you're into that sorta thing.
Thanks in advance,
xoxo
